My mother purchased Antje Gillingham’s book called Knitting Circles Around Socks for me about two years ago along with a set of interchangeable needles from Denise. I love the various patterns of socks but can’t seem to figure out magic loop knitting. I’m a very visual person so reading the step-by-step instructions is helpful but doesn’t quite do it for me. Using two needles to knit two socks at the same time seems like a daunting task.
I found an article from Knitting Daily, I recently signed up for their daily newsletter, that helps to explain in verbiage and pictures. It never occurred to me that I don’t need double pointed needles to knit in the round even for small projects. But yet again I stumbled so I searched for videos that might help explain things further.
Two videos from Knitting Help, which has been a great resource for me over the years, offering instruction on magic loop and knitting in the round with two needles peaked my interest. After watching the videos and gaining a better understanding I determined what I’ve been doing wrong…knitting with the wrong needle.
Now with more knowledge and new-found courage I plan on trying to knit a pair of socks on two circular needles using magic loop knitting technique this coming weekend. Wow that’s a mouthful and most likely a handful!
